Information about the consultation

1. Do I need to be referred by a GP?

Appointments can be booked without a GP referral but GPs can also refer patients to osteopaths where they believe this intervention would be beneficial. If you have a serious medical history, you may wish to visit your GP first. Please note that some insurances may require you to be referred by your GP. Our osteopaths will be pleased to assist you if you need any advice.

2. How to book an appointment?

It is very simple you can either send us an email or call our reception team. The Spitalfields Clinic has no disabled access but there is a possibility for you to arrange home visits depending on your location, however we can arrange visits at home to accommodate you.

3. How to cancel or change an appointment?

We understand that your availability may change, you can call our reception team to change or rebook your appointment. Please give us a 24 hours notice to cancel in order to allow bookings for patients who need it.

4. Can I book an emergency appointment?

We understand that you may need an urgent appointment if you are in pain. Please call our reception team and we will do our best to accomodate you during the day.

5. How many sessions are necessary?

As an Osteopath, our aim is to get you back to full health and function as quickly as possible. Your rate of recovery will depend on several factors including your age, general health, sensitivity to treatment, activities in your life, as well as the type of problem you have. On average, 3 to 4 treatments are usually sufficient to correct most problems that are amenable to osteopathic treatment. The number of treatments required will be discussed with you after the diagnosis has been explained at your initial assessment.

6. How does it work?

During the first appointment, the practionner gathers all the information they need from you in order to rule out any major condition that could make you unsafe to treat. then they proceed to the treatment, making the first session longer than the follow ups.

7. What do I need to wear?

Appropriate clothes such as shorts leggings and anything that would allow the practitionner to access the symptomatic musculoskeletal structures.

8. Will it be covered by my insurance?

Our practitioners are recognised by some of the leading private health insurances providers. However some insurances may require you to be referred by a GP. Please note that costs can be covered up to a certain limit, we recommend you to contact your insurance provider for more information.
